Skyler’s Going to be a Big Sister!
Dearest Skyler,
We got up early today to visit Papa and Mama’s doctor near Popo’s home. We wanted to get flu vaccinations for ourselves and Mama also had to check with the doctor about something – Mama had to confirm if she was pregnant! And the doctor confirmed it! :D Skyler, you’re going to be a che-che with your very own mei-mei or di-di!
We’re so excited about this. We wanted you to have a sibling to grow up with as we were afraid that you would be lonely. Also, you’ve brought us so much joy that we felt that we should have another child to share the love and joy that we have in our little family. :D
Anyway, Papa was the only one who received the vaccination as Mama couldn’t have it yet since she was pregnant. You calmly sat on Papa’s lap and watched the doctor jab Papa. You’re so cute! The rest of the day, when you saw Papa’s arm where the injection was administered, you kept on poking your finger there and saying ‘jab-jab’. It hurts! But you’re so cute when you did it. :p
We went over to Popo’s place after the doctor’s to give her a lift to her shop. We also told her that you were going to be a che-che and she was so excited and happy for us. We also told Kow-fu and Kow-moh! And Grandma (who subsequently emailed both Ma-ko and Ah-Pek before Papa could do so). :p
We drove Popo to town before we headed off to Suntec City for lunch and to give Mama a chance to get her haircut. We had lunch at the Bak-kut Teh place where you only ate a small piece of meat and very little rice. You had actually wanted to eat your favourite corn but we didn’t feel like it then. Sorry!
We then walked around the whole place a bit more – we had an ice cream cone together and you so enjoyed yourself running around the place that we sat at to eat it.
When we were done, Mama had to go off for her haircut so Papa and you stayed around there to watch the Looney Tunes show that they had outside Carrefour. Papa thought that you would lose interest in the show but you wanted to stay for the whole performance. :D At the end of the performance, they shot some confetti into the crowd and Papa picked a few pieces up to let you play with.
We then took a slow walk to where Mama was having her haircut. You explored everything you could on the way. :D It took us almost an hour to get to Mama’s hairdresser’s. By then, Papa thought that Mama would be close to being done but we found out that the whole process had been very slow. As we were tired by then, we just sat in an empty chair next to Mama to watch her.
You watched her getting her hair blow-dried and then cut. Papa and you were so sleepy that we fell asleep while waiting for Mama. You sat on Papa’s lap and fell asleep and Papa slept too! Sorry that it was so uncomfortable, Lil’ One.
After Mama was done, we headed off to buy some fruit from Carrefour and then bought a few toys – we bought a Play-Doh set for you to play with. It’ll be less messy than making dough ourselves! :D
We then packed dinner before driving Mama off to church for her choir practice. You were so exhausted by then that we decided to let you sleep in the car. You woke up an hour later! :D
You wanted Milo when you woke up so Papa brought you to the McDonald’s at Funan Centre for a cup. The nice manager che-che there gave you a balloon. You only had about half the cup before you refused to take any more.
Then you started asking for something that sounded like ‘bear-back’ or ‘bare bag’ … Papa couldn’t figure out what you wanted at all! There was nothing in the place we were in that Papa could use as a clue. You got so worked up by Papa’s inability to understand that you started fussing. Papa then took his bag filled with your stuff to show you everything that was in it to see if any of it was what you wanted. You got so frustrated that you took everything out and threw them onto the floor. Papa then tried to get you to pick them up but you refused and just kept on crying.
One of the counter staff aunties came and tried to offer you another balloon to calm you down but you refused to take it. She also offered to carry you but you refused to go near her. In fact, you backed up into Papa instead. Papa’s so glad that you still have a healthy wariness of strangers even in the state that you were in.
Papa’s also quite unhappy with these strangers who come in and try to interfere when parents are trying to reason with their children. Oh well…
Anyway, in the end, Mama messaged to say that she was done so Papa picked up the stuff instead and carried you back to church to meet Mama. You had so totally calmed down by then. Papa related this to Mama and found out that you’d asked for the same thing before at home and Mama couldn’t understand what you wanted then either. Sigh… We hope to find out soon. Poor Baby Gal!
We then drove home and tried to feed you a late dinner before showering you and putting you to bed.
We love you, Lil’ One! And by next year, Che-che Lil’ One! :D
