Children’s Day
Dearest Skyler,
We spent most of the day at home as it was so hot outside! The past few days have been searingly hot! Oh well… :(
Papa brought you out for a walk to the nearby shops to get some breakfast. You enjoyed the walk as you got to walk on different kinds of surfaces and play with the exercise equipment along the way. :D
After breakfast, we got you to take a nap as all of us were still quite sleepy. Papa and Mama had worked until quite late in the night (or should I say early morning) once again. You didn’t want to nap even though you were obviously very sleepy but we managed to get you to do so.
In the late afternoon, Papa and you gave Mama a lift to the library before heading off to Sembawang Park for a walk. We had been there before but you were very young then. We doubt that you remember very much about that visit. :D Anyway, Papa brought you there and you got to enjoy a nice breezy walk around the place. It was filled with little children with their parents as it was Children’s Day! Happy Children’s Day, Lil’ One!
You were so interested in walking on the grass and cobbled paths! :D Papa had brought you to the jetty but instead of looking at the ships and the sea, you just wanted to step on dried up leaves on the grass. :D
While we were there, we bumped into Uncle Anthony, his wife and their dog, Yang-Yang. We had also bumped into Uncle and Aunty yesterday in church! :D What a coincidence and in all places! :D
There was also a playground there that you wanted to play in but Papa didn’t allow you as the ground was covered with fine sand and you were wearing shoes. Papa didn’t want you to walk around with sand in your shoes. There was a swing set there that had good support for toddlers like you so Papa carried you to sit in it. You were quite apprehensive about it but you did sit in it for a while. :D
We then headed back to the Point to meet Mama for dinner. You were so sleepy that you fell asleep in the Duckie Mobile on our way there. As we were a bit early, Papa decided to let you sleep for a while in the car. Mama came down to meet us so we woke you up and we went to look for dinner.
We had food at the Chinese restaurant before walking around a bit. We then shared an ice cream at the ice cream restaurant as we had promised you an ice cream to celebrate Children’s Day. You ate that ice cream so ravenously! :D
We came home after that. We tried to start putting you to bed sooner as you’ve been trying to avoid sleeping these past few nights. You will come up with all kinds of excuses to delay our putting you to bed! We went through the whole routine of drinking your milk a couple of times, reading a few books, singing your Sunday School songs and having Mama carry you like a baby! Even then, when Mama left the room, you cried and cried so piteously! Poor Lil’ Gal! Papa carried you and sang to you then dashed up and down the room while carrying you (somehow this seems to entertain you). After a while, you managed to calm down and were willing to go to bed. Sigh… Poor Lil’ Gal!
Papa and Mama love you!
