Night Safari
Dearest Skyler,
We went down to Goodwood Park Hotel’s Min Jiang Restaurant for a dim sum lunch today. It’s been some time since we were there. We had always gone there for dim sum before as we really like their food. :D You also tried quite a variety of the food that we had ordered. You’re still not eating much but at least you tried different stuff. :D
After lunch, we went down to Popo’s place to spend the afternoon there. Once you got there, you immediately went to play with the car that Aunty Lin Lin gave you. :D You also spent the time playing with Popo and walking up and down the staircase. Popo and Mama also took you out for a walk around the area. We stayed for dinner but once again, you refused to eat the food that we had. Sigh… You’re surviving on milk, Lil’ One. This can’t be right!
You had been awake the whole afternoon so once we put you in the car when we left Popo’s, you fell asleep.
On the way home, we decided that we would bring you to the Night Safari. The weather was just perfect for it – it had been raining the past few days but tonight was perfect weather; there were stars everywhere!. :p However, after we got there, you were still sleeping and we didn’t want to wake you too soon so we let you nap. You slept for quite some time, Lil’ One. Fortunately, you got up in time for us to make it for the animal show.
On the way in, we stopped by the tribal show put up by purportedly a group of men and women from Borneo. They had fire eating and dancing performances among others. We then headed for the amphitheatre for the animal show. The show hasn’t changed at all since we were there last year. But of course you don’t remember last year’s trip, do you? You fell asleep during the show then. :D The show was supposed to have started with a wolf howling at the moon but for some reason, the wolf didn’t howl. It seemed to try a few times but it kept on not doing it. :( Oh well…
We left the show a bit early as we wanted to beat the crowd to the tram ride. (On the way to the tram, we bumped into Uncle Arthur [Papa’s colleague] and his family.) We managed to get onto the tram quite easily and thus began the fairly long ride around the Night Safari. We managed to see quite a few animals up close as there were some parts where the tram moved through the animal enclosure and the animals were actually just roaming around next to the tram. :D We saw so many animals – tapirs, lions, tigers, elephants, anteaters, lots of different types of deer…! It was quite fascinating. :D
After the tram ride, we took a short walk around the Fishing Cat trail before heading home. You seemed to be more fascinated with pressing the buttons for the commentaries about the animals than the animals themselves, Lil’ One. :D
We love you, Lil’ One!
